Burst pipe: do this now
- Turn off the main water valve (usually where the line enters the house, or at the meter box).
- Switch off the water heater.
- If water is near outlets or the panel, keep clear and switch off the main breaker only if it is dry to reach.
- Open a low tap to drain pressure and move valuables.
- Call us — stay on the line and we’ll talk you through it.
Sparking or burning smell: do this now
- Do not touch the outlet or switch.
- Switch off that circuit at the breaker panel.
- If you see smoke or flames, leave and call 911 first.
- Unplug nearby devices once the circuit is off.
